It always amazes how I only seem to notice how much things change when I look at how my own children have grown. In less than a year, they're a little wiser and growing into their own uniqueness. It's so important to take the time to appreciate just how special time is, and to cherish every moment we have together. I look forward to what the next chapter holds. Happy 4th of July holiday!
Big sister Walker celebrates her new found title with newborn sister, Sloan (just 2 days old). My little nieces are such cuties I was honored to capture these special moments and I look forward to keeping up with their development as they grow.
My newborn niece Sloan
My Memorial weekend was spent in Asheville at the Biltmore Estate photographing Judd and Kristy's wedding. After finally making it to bed at 2am, my cellphone rang at 4am and it was my brother-in-law to tell us that my sister-in-law, Jenn, was in labor and heading for the hospital. I could only laugh as little Sloan didn't get the memo about waiting for aunty Mika to get back home so I could be there when she was born! Nevertheless, we headed straight back to Charlotte after my daughter and I finished our horseback ride behind the Biltmore house (something I recommend doing). Little Sloan Marie Cooney was born at 10am exactly on Sunday May 25th and the whole Cooney clan are delighted to welcome her into the family.
Love at the Biltmore Estate
What a priviledge it was to share in Kristy and Judd's special day at such a magnificent venue, the Biltmore Estate in Asheville North Carolina. It's been so much fun working with this loving couple, and capturing their day was no exception. They started the celebration with their rehearsal dinner the Friday night in the underground Winery. The wedding ceremony and reception took place at the Deer Park Restaurant in the open air courtyard, and we were able to take a visit to the main house on the Estate for the formal photos. The fascinating history of the venue is well worth a visit. Take a look at their wedding day slideshow here www.photolyrical.com/burleigh.htm

I enjoyed photographing British born Sally and son Cameron for Sally's maternity session. It was delighteful to hear the familiar accent of 'cup of tea' and 'petrol'. It was such fun capturing the loads of sharing, cuddling, giggles and love between Mom and son.
