Welcoming a newborn angel Emma

Have I mentioned that I just LOVE photographing newborns? Their tiny little forms, soft skin and sweet little curled up positions make it a pure delight to be creative. Little Miss Emma is the newest arrival for Jocy & Mike and she is just heaven sent. She slept the whole way through the session and enjoyed the 90F degree warmth of the studio even though Mom and I were building up a sweat. I was tickled pink to be able to try the newborn ''baby folding'' techniques I've been curious to attempt and a sleeping Emma obliged. Newborns are best photographed from day 1 to 14 of life whilst they sleep the most and don't mind all the positing we do to create some really fantastic heart felt memories. I look forward to the next installment when Emma is 3 months and full of smiles!

A Newborn's Conversation with God

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you.  And you will feel your angel’s love and be very happy."

Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel ' s name."

God said, You will simply call her ‘’Mom."

Happy mother's Day to all the mommies out there!!!

Newborn Olivia

Girls and sugar and spice... Precious little Olivia is the brand new little sister of Jacob whom I had the opportunity of capturing for his one year portraits. At 18 months Jacob had grown so much and was full of bounce and energy. Proud Grandma was in town to visit and it was wonderful to steal a smile of Grandma and her 2 grand babies. It's definitely the pink season of girls, girls, girls and of course being pregnant myself with a girl I'm ''tickled pink'' to have so many future friends for play dates!

Big boy David

David is 18 months old and a real charmer! It's been a delight being part of his family history as I had the wonderful opportunity to capture him while in utero during moms maternity portraits. Watching him grow has made me so proud I feel like his adopted auntie! As soon as David enters the studio he knows exactly where he is and his face lights up as he knows where the candy treasure box is! He loves to smile and it's just infectious. Mom Nancy is a real trooper and has to be single mom for most of the month while Dad works in Texas. Any time they have together as a family is just precious and I'm so honored that when Dad comes to visit I'm called upon to capture the fleeting moments. It's only when we don't have those we love close to us that makes us appreciate just how important it is to treasure every moment. And capturing the moment with heartfelt portraits makes the moment last forever not only in our hearts but in our conscientiousness.

A little while's back I photographed some gorgeous homes for the portfolio of award winning Charlotte interior designer, Teal Michel. Teal's excellent eye for design and style has proven legendary and I'm proud to be associated with her great work. Take a peek at some of her renovations for inspiration!

Waiting on baby Emma

Mom Jocey was so excited to capture her baby bump before the much anticipated arrival of little Emma. We all had a blast trying out some artsy poses and Dad was a trooper too. We look forward to the next installment of welcoming Miss Emma.
